Skin Microneedling

Collagen Induction Therapy And Rejuvenation

The Helix Clinic in Kelowna BC offers the Eclipse Evo micro-needling pen, a Health Canada Approved device, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). The skin is considered the largest organ of the body and has the amazing ability to heal and regenerate if given the opportunity. If stimulated, it can produce collagen and elastin which helps to tighten and tone the skin structure.

As we age and expose our skin to external factors (sun, wind, chemicals) the ability of our skin to turn over and regenerate decreases leading to the common signs of aging. The Evo pen uses powerful medical grade technology to harness the skin’s natural healing capabilities to combat the aging process and efficiently restore your healthy, youthful, appearance.

Unlike dermal rollers which create punctures that micro-tear the skin, the Eclipse Micro-Pen creates channels at controlled depths into the epidermis and dermis at a 90 degree angle. This means the needle enters the skin and exits without causing micro tearing for optimal collagen stimulation and healing. The mechanical action of the device stimulates the body to produce a natural healing response that triggers the release of growth factors and fibroblasts the improve the overall quality and integrity of the skin. The Eclipse Elite device allows for customized depths from 0.01mm-0.25mm to ensure maximum results. To enhance the treatment, topical serums or gels can be applied, such as hyaluronic acid or PRP, to enhance the skin rejuvenation and healing.

How Does Microneedling Work?

Micro-needling works through a mechanical stimulation inducing collagen production. The treatment can be enhanced with hyaluronic acid or platelets to increase the bodies healing mechanisms for optimal results.

Does Microneedling Help Scars?

Yes, microneedling can help to reduce the appearance and hyperpigmentation or scars. Depending on the size of the scar, multiple treatments may be needed to soften the texture and reduce overall appearance. Other additional therapies may be required to achieve the best results.

Can I Get A Microneedling Treatment Before A Photoshoot?

If you are planning any events or photo shoots, be aware that there is redness post treatment and may take up to 48 hours to fully return to your skin tone. It is not advisable to have this treatment immediately before a photo shoot.

What Is The Down Time?

Immediately after the treatment, the skin will have a mild pink appearance that can last for up to 72 hours. Depending on the goals of the treatment and the area, some mild flaking may occur within the first few days. A full post treatment care guide is given and reviewed after every treatment.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

If this is your first time with this treatment, it is recommended that a series of 2-3 treatments are completed each 4-6 weeks apart to achieve the best results. For advanced scarring and aging, more treatments may be required to achieve the desired results.
